One of the days as usual at Ranga Shankara, I just had finished the first stand up ever in Kannada and sitting in the cafe having tea and a victory smile. There was suddenly two gentlemen one whom I remembered from my "working" days in a PR company as a tech. journalist and another stranger with a strange but confident smile. They approached me with a concept which shook my grounds. I had sleepless nights thinking of how to put it on stage and how to make it appealing. The Sherlock Holmes worm which they put in my brain took over. I was so thrilled to hear about this project that I waited for day break to call them. They too were little astonished to hear from me at that earliest. After prolonged discussion sessions we finally have decided to go ahead with the plays. Not one but three, yes three letters from Balaji Narasimhan's "Sherlock Holmes - Solutions From The Sussex Downs", would be adapted to stage. |
|||
| Three letters from the book would be put on stage. Namely... | |||
| 1. A Case of Heroin Addiction | |||
| 2. A Substituted Gems Case | |||
| 3. A Beedis Clue | |||
|
All these stories are unique and has maximum suspense and a huge scope when it will go on stage. We will surely make these production one of the most unique production in design and style. |

Balaji Narasimhan Balaji lives and breathes IT and has been a part of the IT industry for over a decade. He was born with an old, oily clay pipe in his mouth, which he feels is far superior to a silver spoon. Balaji has also written "Sherlock Holmes: Solutions from the Sussex Downs" and was published in the US. This is a compilation of 25 stories or letters and Balaji got his inspiration from his Great Grandfather who wrote Ramayana in letters form. These 25 stories depict how Holmes (who is now retired and settled in Sussex) solves the Scotland Yard cases and his interesting solutions in form of letters to different inspectors of the Yard. His interests vary from driving a bike to writing non stop for the Portal where he works. Balaji has also authored his contributions to Mr. Holmes’s "the whole art of detection" which he has modestly entitled, The Partial Art of Detection. He has identified 235 quotations through which Mr. Holmes provides instruction concerning the art of detection and has cross-indexed each of these by case of origin and by subject matter. A great book for light reading or a useful volume for scholars seeking just the right Sherlockian quotation. |

This is Sathish's third production under Fourth Corner banner. He has been working with different theatre groups from India at different times. After his hibernation or disappearance for three years, the Ranga Shankara festival 2004, put him back in line with his passion for theatre. He still is known for him being a theatre critic for newspapers and with special reference to Times of India. He still continues to write for newspapers on theater and related issues.
